Losing weight comes to down to many things but ultimately at first it is about mindset and changing behaviors. For many this can be a constant battle and struggle because we live in a society of instant gratification and seek in everything we do.

With weight loss there are no instant results and instant gratifications. With weight loss we will get results later down the line, however we can get them sooner than later with the right idea.

This article has a few tips on how to set yourself up for success with weight loss.

Simplify – Instead of being super focused on counting calories or making sure your portion size is ok, why not just focus of fresh and raw? Focus on finding fresh raw foods that you love and super simple recipes that you can incorporate them in. The more raw you eat and the more fresh ingredients you introduce into your diet, the better your diet will and weight loss will be forthcoming.  This is a great way to get a healthy weight loss diet.

Slow & Steady Wins The Race – There are only the rare few who can change their diet and lifestyle overnight. For most of us slow and steady change is the best way to change our lifestyles for good. When you jump in and try to change too quickly you end up bingeing and yo-yoing back and forth, never being content and happy and never keeping the weight off. Look at your diet now and see what you can easily cut out now. It could be as simple as cutting out sodas but just doing that can have a huge impact on your weight. You can also make small steps like eating fruit before each meal and adding a salad into your diet to go with your dinner or lunch (depending on preference). As these small changes become habit, you can add in more and more. You will be amazed how quickly your diet will change and you how you ever lived on the old one.

Every Change Matters – Regardless of how small the change is, every change matters to your weight loss success. Don’t put down your small changes, be proud of them as they are still taking you one step closer to weight loss heaven. We aren’t perfect so even if you go off the rails, use it as a learning process and focus on the good. Slip-ups are inevitable, it’s what we learn from them that counts.

Treat Exercise The Same Way – Most people seem to struggle more with exercise than anything else. Treat it in the same way that you would your diet. Make small changes and add it into your day. You may want to start with once or twice a week and build up daily or you may want to add in five minutes a day and build up from there. Whatever you choose make sure it is enjoyable and always remember that exercise is just as important for health and well being as diet is.

Many people pile on the pounds very easily, while others can get away with eating whatever they want (or so they think as despite not putting on weight they are still doing no favors to their health!). A simple readjustment of attitude and having self-awareness can really help someone who piles the weight on to lose it fairly quickly.

So is there really a simple way to lose the weight? Well it depends how you define simple I suppose. Some people may find changing their diet anything but simple as they are burdened with emotional eating they just cannot overcome, whiles other can make the changes and have simple weight loss. It all depends on you.

My boyfriend piled on the pounds when my son was born. He is someone who has always had moments in his lifetime where he has been huge, but other moments where he has been a lot slimmer. The culprit for him seems to be the time of year. Generally during the Winter he would put on 20-30lbs very easily, while in the summer he will lose it within weeks. To combat it during the Winter he decided it was to clear up his diet.

The easiest way he found to lose weight was to cut out meat and dairy. Although most people can’t seem to live without these things, he didn’t have a big issue doing this. He cut out meat first as he knew this would be the hard part for him, but substituting with vegetable curries and delicious dishes he was able to do it very easily. After this he cut out dairy and found this to be very easy to do, despite the fact that most things have some form of dairy in them!

He lost weight almost instantly, first slimming down in his face and then the rest of him. He has no inclination or intention to eat meat or dairy at the moment, but has stated that he will most likely eat meat again just not dairy as he doesn’t see it as a human food.

On top of cutting these things out, he also cut out sodas. Sodas always seem to creep back into his diet in the Winter and these always add extra calories he would prefer to be without.

Being vegan has also helped my boyfriend really clean his system out so that if he ever decides to stray he will instantly be repulsed by the greasy fatty foods he once loved.

Being vegan can be a great way to lose weight and a healthy weight loss diet.  My boyfriend has experienced an increase in energy and contentment. It was easy for him and can be easy for you.

Veganism has been great for my boyfriend so far and he hasn’t even started his regular bike rides that he starts every spring. When he does he will see the weight fall off even faster!
